The Raptor-class Star Destroyer was a class of vessel used in abundance by the Galactic Merchants Union. A cruiser by design it was very akin to a halfway point between the Victory-classes and the Imperator-classes. It was designed as a heavy escort, meant to fight off fighters and other capital ships. In this regard it could also act as a frontline cruiser.
