Usage

The Morganus-class Star Cruiser was a Remsian prototype heavy cruiser designed and built during the decade of 80aby. Agile and fast for a ship her size, in addition to her stabilizing wings she was maneuverable, both in space and in atmosphere. Armed with a wide array of weapons she could hold her own with ships many hundred meters larger than her, and her Ventral Mounted Neutron Cannon gave her an anti-capital ship punch akin to a craft twice her size. Her primary punch however lied in her Carrier abilities, she carried 24 fighters, normally X-3 Daggers giving her a large anti-starfighter and defensive ability.

Her hull was doubled, an inner and an outer, with reinforced honeycombed struts between. Each free space between the inner and outer hull featured the primary shield generators. Behind the inner hull, was a buffer between it and the outer bulk head, filled with secondary systems. The Inner and outer bulkhead beyond that featured a tertiary backup, a redundancy for the redundancy. All of this was to make her a far more difficult target to destroy.

The Cruiser's design, while strong, was to expensive. After test runs the Cruiser was assigned to the Averard Penitentiary as a defense cruiser. The design concepts of the Morganus, like the redundancies and layered hull were used in the Templar II-class Star Destroyer decades later.
