The Commandant of the Marine Corps was a special rank and title within the Templars of Twilight and the Templar Marine Corps. Held by a senior member of the Templars, more often than not a member of the Twilight Council they were the highest commander of the Marine Corps and the Corps direct liaison to the Templar command structure. Unlike most military commanders who are rear echelon ranks it was not unheard of for the Commandant of the Marine Corps commands large scale engagements directly from the battlefield or orbit. The Commandant was one of the members of the Military Council.
